Hydrating without breaking out
Dry weather advice for people with acne prone skin
Regardless of your skin type, dry weather can wreak havoc on skin. The cold, dry and brittle weather of the winter can trigger skin breakouts, accentuate dead, flaky skin, and irritate acne prone skin. While over-applying any skin care product can potentially cause problems, there are many ways to hydrate the skin without breaking out, especially if you suffer with acne.
Humidifiers for hydration
Humidifiers are highly effective for keeping skin hydrated during the winter. During the winter, the air is drier which can affect all skin types. Humidifiers work to raise the humidity in an indoor space, helping to increase air hydration and to raise the moisture levels in the room. Have a humidifier on during the day or at night can help to benefit skin.
Hydrating cleanser
Unfortunately, cleansers that have high concentrations of benzoyl peroxide, salicylic Acid or sulfates can be especially drying to skin during the winter. These types of cleansers are typically geared towards acne prone skin and excluding sulfates, can be beneficial to skin in the warmer months but can sometimes be overly drying to skin in the winter. If your skin is prone to breakouts, using our Very Clear Deep Pore Acne Scrub once a week will help unclog pores, draw out impurities and prevent future breakouts. For a daily, sulfate-free wash that is suitable in the winter, our Hydrating Alkaline Cloud Cleanser gently removes makeup, impurities and excess oil leaving skin healthier and radiant looking.
Overnight hydration
Due to the dry and often uncomfortable weather in the winter, having an overnight hydration system can be key to keeping skin well-conditioned without breaking out. Our Ultra Hydrating Alkaline Overnight Facial enriched with Hyaluronic Acid and pH balancing Alkaline Water helps to keep skin hydrated overnight, drawing moisture to dry, thirsty skin without overpowering skin.
