Vitamin C and Sunspots

How sunspots happen

Sunspots, also known as solar lentigo, are caused when exposure to UV rays quicken melanin production which causes skin to darken. Sunspots occur over a lifetime of sun exposure. With each moment spent in the sun, you are at risk of gaining sunspots, with fairer skin people being most at risk. Sunspots can grow larger and get darker with more exposure to the sun. It can be difficult to fade sunspots with age as most sun damage begins to develop before adulthood.

How to prevent more

The most efficient way to lower the risk of sunspots is to stay out of the sun during the peak hours of 10am-2pm. During these hours, the sun can be at its brightest which inevitably can cause the most damage to skin. Another efficient way to greatly lower the risk of sunspots is to wear sunscreenOur dermatologist recommended, award-winning, eco-friendly Sun Care collection provides UVA/UVB broad spectrum protection.
