Living a healthier lifestyle can be made easier by simply making a few substitutes. In honor of BBQ season we’re sharing some delicious vegan BBQ options that are sure to become quickly your party go-tos!

Appetizers -  It’s all about the chips and dip!

Many tortilla chips are already vegan, but if you want something even more nutritious, try veggie chips from Terra or The Daily Crave to go along with your guacamole. For a quick and tasty guac, mash 3 avocados and combine with ½ cup Newman’s Own Mango Medium Salsa, fresh squeezed juice from 1 lime, ½ cup chopped cilantro, and salt and pepper to taste.

Entrees -  Get ready to taste your new favorite burgers and fries

A great substitute for beef patties is black bean patties. Black beans contain less calories, no fat, and are a superior source for fiber.  To make, chop and sauté half an onion and combine with mashed black beans from 1 14 oz can, 2 crumbled slices of bread, ½ tsp seasoned salt, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder. Slowly add ½ cup flour, mixing in a few tablespoons at a time. Form the mixture into ½ inch thick patties and fry in a small amount of oil over medium-low heat until slightly firm and lightly browned on both sides (about 3 minutes). Add your favorite toppings and serve on your favorite vegan bread!

A burger would be quite alone without fries, so, on the side, we recommend sweet potato fries (potato's healthier cousin). First, preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray. To make, peel and cut 2 large sweet potatoes into 1 in x 3 in. wedges. In a large bowl, lightly toss potatoes with ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp ground black pepper, ¼ tsp paprika, and ¼ tsp garlic powder. Bake for 18-25 minutes, or until golden brown, turning once halfway. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Dessert -  The sweet finale

An easy, quick, refreshing and delicious go-to is always organic, seasonal, and maybe even locally grown fruits--yum!  To fancy this up a bit, we suggest offering your guests a coconut-based creamy, vegan fruit dip you can guiltlessly enjoy all summer. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup coconut cream, ¼ cup unsweetened cacao powder, and 2 tbs pure maple syrup. Using a hand mixer, beat until well combined. Gradually add the cacao powder and mix until smooth.
