Eczema

Eczema is a skin condition that causes itchy, red, and swollen patches of skin on various areas of the body. Flare-ups commonly happen year round and can be triggered by your everyday environment from factors such as: pollen, clothing, detergents, and cigarette smoke. A key indirect contributor to flare-ups is the changes in weather. Eczema does not fare well in dry weather. With having sensitive skin, it’s important to be cautious of what you’re putting on your body. Some of the ingredients in skin care products can induce or worsen irritation. There’s nothing worse than feeling itchy and uncomfortable all day long. Eczema can be very frustrating, and embarrassing, but it is also manageable.

Here are some tips to help treat eczema and find relief naturally:

Moisturize

Keeping your skin nourished and moisturized is very important if you have eczema. Since the skin condition is one that is prone to severe drying, try using a natural product that is enriched with soothing ingredients: Vitamin E, Tea Tree, Burdock Root Extract and Chamomile. All of which can help relieve inflammation, irritation and provide an extra barrier to protect your skin.

Wash away

Throughout the day our bodies sweat, produce oils, and collect pollen. These things can trigger a flare up or cause irritation to an existing inflamed patch. It's important to bathe with lukewarm water and use a body wash that is gentle yet effective. Try using a body wash that contains Tea Tree, Neem, Burdock or Bearberry extracts. It will work as a double action to not only clean your skin, but help to reduce irritation as well.

Fragrance-free

Who doesn't like smelling good or using a product that entices your senses? Though the lotion or body wash might smell wonderful, it's not so great for your skin. Many skin care products that have a fragrance contain harsh chemicals that will immediately trigger eczema and cause great discomfort. Instead, try switching to a natural-base fragrance free body wash and lotion. The tradeoff is that your skin will feel smooth, nourished, and supple. A great substitute for perfumes is essential oils. They provide a delightful scent and will not aggravate your skin. Feel fresh and clean without the itch!

Please note: Eczema has an internal and external component that needs to be addressed in order to resolve the condition completely. We highly recommend you work with a natural healthcare practitioner to help resolve this condition. When trying new products, be sure to test a small area first.
